When you think of Colorado you might think of the mountains, mining and maybe even agriculture. It may come as a surprise to you to learn that Colorado ranks #5 in the US for crude oil and natural gas production with a history that dates back to 1881. Join the Western Museum of Mining and Industry (225 North Gate Blvd., Colorado Springs) for a lecture on November 12 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. that will cover the history of the major oil and gas fields in our state, a little of the development of technology used in the industry, and some of the current opportunities and challenges that exist. This event is free for museum members and $5 for non-members. RSVP at rsvp@wmmi.org.
