A multi-day Chautauqua, planned and presented by Palmer Lake Arts Council, is coming to Palmer Lake July 29-August 4, with day and evening events.
What is a Chautauqua? Simply said, it is a community coming together to learn and be entertained. The word itself is from the Native languages of New York and means, “a bag tied in the middle,” which resembled the shape of Lake Chautauqua in southwest New York state, the site of the first Chautauqua assemblies.
Chautauqua Palmer Lake is seven days of learning and entertainment in the shadow of Mt. Chautauqua in Palmer Lake at venues throughout Palmer Lake, including the Town Hall and Village Green, and the parks around the Lake.
Educators, musicians, lecturers, crafters, plein air artists, historians, potters, and area chefs will provide live music, hands-on art instruction, live theater, guided walks, and performance art.
