The registration window for the Monument Hill Kiwanis 4th of July Parade is open.  This year’s parade, with an expanded route, will step off at 10:00 a.m. The children’s parade precedes it beginning at 9:45 a.m.

Each year, the Club organizes and operates a parade of well over 100 units through downtown Monument which is viewed by more than 15,000 spectators.  Your organization, club, or business can participate in what has been called “the biggest small-town parade in America.”

This year’s parade theme is “Honoring the Nation’s Founders and the Constitution.

The theme honors all those who worked so hard to fashion a form of government that would allow it to navigate the perils of the times and yet be flexible enough to accommodate the improvements necessary as our nation evolved. This great republic has weathered many tests. The three branches of government (Executive, Legislative and Judicial) armed with a constitution that values and promotes freedom, has fostered vigorous (and at times violent) debate. Even though our trials have been many, our accomplishments have often been the envy of the world. Leadership of the free world is a daunting task. Our founders and our constitution equip us to face the future with optimism and enthusiasm. Let us be resolved to treat our past with the dignity it deserves and our future with the compassion and serious commitment to improvement that it demands.

For the Children’s Parade there is no entry fee/registration.  All children are welcomed, and parents may accompany their children. For safety reasons motorized bikes, scooters, etc. are not allowed.

For the Main Parade, there is a registration fee of $65 to help offset the cost of the parade.  Bands, veteran’s & military groups, 1st responders, and school groups are exempt from the fee.

Parade information, rules, & registration are available at MHKiwanis.org.

If you have a heart for service and fellowship, you can join our great club.  Learn more at MHKiwanis.org.  We meet Saturdays at 8:00-9:30 a.m. at the D38 Administration Building, called “Big Red,” on Jefferson and 2nd Streets in Monument.  Come witness the fellowship and camaraderie…no invitation required.  See for yourself what personal fulfillment looks, sounds, and feels like.
