SUMMARY:2018 Empty Bowls Dinner
DESCRIPTION:We regret that we cannot serve a meal this year. However\, handmade bowls will be available. An online $20 ticket purchase will entitle the donor to one bowl which they can pick out at a drive-through at the Lewis-Palmer High School South Parking Lot\, on Saturday\, October 3rd between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. As always\, we will accept cash and/or food donations at the pickup point. Because our potters are also affected by COVID-19\, we expect to have fewer bowls available. We’re seeking those who would like to “recycle” bowls for another donor. As always\, Tri-Lakes Cares is conducting a Silent Auction—Online this year (details at Tri-LakesCares.org). \nFind details and online ticket sales at MHKiwanis.org. All proceeds go to Tri-Lakes Cares. Help us enable TLC to give back to those less fortunate in our community.

SUMMARY:Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off Moves to Citywide Celebration
DESCRIPTION:The Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off will take place this Labor Day Weekend in a heavily modified form.  With this in mind\, event organizers Hot Apple Productions\, LLC and the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation plan to bring hot air balloons to residents across Colorado Springs with an innovative twist. “The Colorado Springs community will be able to experience early morning balloon launches while balloons fill the city skyline\, launching from numerous locations around town\,” said Hot Apple Productions Managing Member\, Scott Appelman\, “Additionally\, we will have a pop-up Balloon Glow\, weather permitting. Locations to be determined for the upcoming Labor Day weekend”. \nThe Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off continues a 43-year tradition of a hot air balloon event in Colorado Springs. “I am happy to see this beloved event continue to make a positive impact during this difficult time\,” said Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off Founder\, Dewey Reinhard. \nLabor Day Lift Off’s usual donut-eating contest\, lake events\, and field activities will not take place and no vendors will be available. No events will occur at Memorial Park. \n“Our goal is to create a unique community event that allows residents to continue to enjoy the tradition of the Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off\,” said Sports Corp President and CEO Tom Osborne. \nVisit ColoradoSpringsLaborDayLiftOff.com and join the event’s Facebook page for updates and the latest event information. \nBoth partners are thrilled to be able to do this under the environment we are all experiencing. The Labor Day Lift off will be one of very few balloon events that will take place in the world this year. It will look different not being held at Memorial Park\, but available for the community to watch with balloons launching from different locations in Colorado Springs. \nFor more information www.ColoradoSpringsLaborDayLiftOff.com \nhttps://www.facebook.com/labordayliftoff/photos/a.327113637478241/1413302548859339/ \n

SUMMARY:Water-Wise Gardening
DESCRIPTION:In the summer months\, up to 50% of a residential home’s water use is outdoor irrigation. Water is a non-renewable resource that will only become more expensive over time. Maintaining a landscape affordably and responsibly in our area means making wise choices in how we design and irrigate our landscapes. Water-wise landscaping doesn’t mean a conversion to a lifeless gravel yard. This course will help you create a smart\, classy landscape using less water.\nThe town of Monument invites you to a free informational course at the Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce (166 Second St.\, Monument) on March 5 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and March 13 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. to register for the class\, visit http://townofmonument.org/488/Gardening-and-Landscape-Classes.

SUMMARY:10th Annual Touch-A-Truck Weekend
DESCRIPTION:10th Annual Touch-A-Truck Weekend \nThe 2020 Touch-A-Truck Weekend is Friday\, March 6 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. (sensory-friendly evening); Saturday March 7 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.; and Sunday\, March 8 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the 10th Annual Touch-A-Truck Weekend (1045 Lower Gold Camp Rd.\, Colorado Springs). All military\, first responders and their families are invited to visit for free on Sunday\, March 8 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. \nTouch-A-Truck Weekend is one of the premier family events in Colorado Springs and El Paso County. At work\, these trucks and vehicles can be driving fast\, moving large rocks\, or saving lives. Now they are in a safe location for kids to explore\, whether that’s sitting in the driver’s seat\, seeing the size of the tires\, or climbing onto the flat bed. \nThe funds raised at Touch-A-Truck Weekend will benefit the Junior League of Colorado Springs’ Fostering Change initiative — efforts to provide resources to current and former foster youth focused on the risk factors associated with aging out of foster care\, such as homelessness\, human trafficking\, and domestic violence.\nTo purchase tickets visit www.jlcoloradosprings.org.

This course will help you create a smart\, classy landscape using less water. \n The Town of Monument invites you to a free informational course at the Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce (166 Second St.\, Monument) on February 25 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. to register for the class\, visit http://townofmonument.org/488/Gardening-and-Landscape-Classes.
